KERALA TRIP MEMORIES - Part 1

Kerala trip memories - Part 1

Do you know why Kerala is called God's own Country ?
According to Hindu mythology, Kerala was created by Lord Parasurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu by throwing his axe across the sea to create new land for his devotees to live peacefully.
So you see , Kerala is God's own creation, hence it is called God's own country!
I had never been to Kerala before. My expectation was low , as I had seen places that are marketed heavily ends up being not so magnificient experience.
Our flight was quite late in the evening , as rarely you find direct flight from kolkata to Kochi.

The real CHALLENGE was were all to visit in such a short span as we only had 5 days & 4 nights.
Kids loves sea breaches and since we had 2 such naughty and adorable kid in our trip so thought to plan accordingly.
I stumbled upon an ISLAND in Kerala - VYPIN ISLAND.
The island was formed in 1341 following a heavy flood. The striking beauty or uniqueness of the Island is that on one side you have the pristine backwaters of kerala and just on the other the blue Arabian sea !
Majestic , and you will just feel the same as you reach there.
Sadik Bhai from J & J Taxi services picked us from Kochi airport in early hours of the morning. The weather was warm and nice.
While on the way we could see the paddy fields , locals fishing and the backwaters.
Crossing few bridges we reached Cherai sea beach where our resort was located.
Cherai sea beach has numerous good hotels and resorts , but we selected SEA LAGOON HEALTH RESORT for 2 reasons -

 1)  its the only resort in that area with a private  beach area ( and when we reached saw it was so true with security gaurds and all to give you the perfect privacy )

2) it had tied up with an Ayurvedic hospital hence Health resort and I needed some ayurvedic treatment due to critical health condition.

As we entered the resort the first thing I felt was of the poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Water, water everywhere !

The infinity pool was married to the back waters and it seems they cohabited nicely together.

The breakfast did offered variety of south indian dishes like dosa ( they had a live counter ) , appam , uttapam etc etc.

The beach was nice though not huge with the waves of arabian sea falling just short of our feet .
And as I hit the pool the thought which embarked on my mind as to why do we travel ? Whats the need ? Is it a wastage of money as perceived by some ?

Why at all we need a vacation ?
Is it that the soul gets tired dwelling inside the same 4 walls , the same office , same commotions , same fights and needs a break ??
What is it that we seek ?

The Jar , Harappa & Surrogacy - Extremely Interesting fact on Lord Shiva

Some more EXTREMELY INTERESTING FACT from Harappan scripts & Lord Shiva -

Below are from the Harappan ( Harappa Mohenjodaro ) scripts.

Like if you take up the first symbol which looks like a “Jar” or “Water pitcher”.

This symbol has terrific inner meaning.

Rishi Vasishtha and Agastha were generated by Gods Varuna and Mitra in a sacred pitcher or water-jar used in sacrifice.

Rishi Vasishtha, the rajpurohit or holy Guru of Ikshvaku dynasty. He was also the teacher of RamChandra, the greatest king of Suryavanshis. He advised Ram on attacking Ravana, the Asura king of Lanka.

Agastha is especially known as the “jar-born” sage. He is mentioned to have emerged from kumbha .Kumbha is a Sanskrit word meaning water jar.

Interesting to note here is that, the water jar is symbolic to a woman’s womb.

The myth of miraculous birth from jars is all throughout our history.

Mr. Nolan...can you think of this concept in our modern world.’

Dr. Sanjeev looked smilingly.

‘This is nothing but modern day surrogacy theory. Can you imagine how advance science was during Indus valley period?’

Nolan and Jaya looked spellbound.

‘In Mahabharata, Drona, the priest-warrior, was generated in a wooden trough by Rishi Bharadwaja. The Kauravas were born from pots filled with clarified butter in which Gandhari’s womb was stored.

The Nagas, the warrior tribe whose insignia was that of a serpent, also had similar practices. The cult of Naga worship spread all across Harappan civilization.

The Pallavas of Kanchi in modern day Tamil Nadu, who claims Drona to be one of their remote ancestors, traced their descent from a water-pitcher.

Now coming to the seal , there is no doubt that the man sitting in yogic posture is none other than Lord Rudra.

Very interesting - Can you guess what is common between all these prominent temples.

1. Kedarnath
2. Kalahashti
3. Ekambaranatha- Kanchi
4. Thiruvanamalai
5. Thiruvanaikaval
6. Chidambaram Nataraja
7. Rameshwaram
8. Kaleshwaram N-India

Very interesting - Can you guess what is common between all these prominent temples.
If your answer is they all are Shiva temples, you are only partially correct.
It is actually the longitude in which these temples are located.

They all are located in 79° longitudes. What is surprising and awesome is that how the architects of these temples many hundreds of kilometres apart came up with these precise locations without GPS or any such gizmo like that.

1. Kedarnath 79.0669°
2. Kalahashti 79.7037°
3. Ekambaranatha- Kanchi 79.7036°
4. Thiruvanamalai 79.0747°
5. Thiruvanaikaval 78.7108
6. Chidambaram Nataraja 79.6954°
7. Rameshwaram 79.3129°
8. Kaleshwaram N-India 79.9067°

See the picture -- all are in a straight line.

You will be surprised to know that there are Shiva temples in India which are built in a straight line from Kedarnath to Rameswaram. Wonder what science and technology we had with our ancestors, which we could not understand till today? The Kedarnath of Uttarakhand, the Kaleshwaram of Telangana, Kalahasti of Andhra Pradesh, Akhaseshwar of Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram and finally the Rameswaram temples have been built in the geographical straight line of  or nearer to that of 79 ° E 41 ' 54 "Longitude.

All these temples represent the expression of gender in the 5 elements of nature, which we call the punch Tatwa (FIVE Elements) in common language. Punch tatwa i.e. Earth, water, fire, air and space. These has released these five Shiva LINGAS on the basis of five elements.
1. Water is represented at Thiruvnanakwal Temple,
2. The representation of the fire is in Thiruvannamalai,
3. The air is represented in Kalahasti,
4. The earth is represented in Kanchipuram and in the cold
5. The space or the sky is represented at Chidambaram Temple! These five temples represent the wonderful mating of Vastu-Vigyan-Veda.

The speciality is also found in these temples in a geographical manner. These five temples were built according to yoga Science, and have been placed in a certain geographical alignment with each other. There will certainly be science that will affect the human body.

These temples were constructed about four thousand years ago when there was no satellite technology available to measure the latitude and longitude of those places. So how was the five temples so accurately established? God Only Knows.

There is a distance of 2383 km between Kedarnath and Rameswaram. But all these temples fall in almost the same parallel line. After all, thousands of years ago, the technology of which these temples have been built in a parallel line is a mystery to this day. The Shimmer lamp in the Srikalahasti temple shows that it Represent AIR Linga. The water spring in the inner plateau of the Thiruvanikka temple shows that Represent WATER-Linga. The huge lamp on the Annamalai hill shows that Represent FIRE-Linga. The Sawanbhu Linga of the sands of Kanchipuram shows that Represent the EARTH Linga and the incorporeal (NIRAKAR) state of Chidambaram is Representing as the incorporeal, heavens(AKASH) Eather element of God.

What is more surprising now is that the five Lingas, representing the five elements of the universe, have been installed centuries ago in a similar line. We should be proud of our ancestors ' knowledge and Intelligence that they had a science and technology that did not even distinguish modern science. It is believed that it is not only the five temples but also the many temples in this line which lie in the straight line from Kedarnath to Rameswaram. This line is also called the "SHIVA SHAKTI AKSH Rekha". It is likely to be made by keeping the entire temple of Kailash in the regions which falls in 81.3119 ° E!? The answer only God Knows.. ...

Amazing thing. Mahakal What is the relationship between the Shiva Jyotirlingams......??
The distance of the remaining Jyotirlingams from Ujjain is also interesting-
Ujjain to Somnath-777 km
Ujjain to Omkareshwar-111 km
Ujjain to Bhimashankar-666 km
Kashi Vishwanath from Ujjain-999 km
From Ujjain, Mallikarjun-999 km
Kedarnath from Ujjain-888 km
Ujjain to Tryanbakeshwar-555 km
Ujjain to Baijnath-999 km
Rameswaram-1999 km from Ujjain
From Ujjain to Nauseshwara-555 km

There was nothing in Hinduism without any reason.
Ujjain is considered to be the centre of the Earth. As a centre for thousands of years in Sanatan Dharma, a man-made instrument for calculating the sun and astrology in Ujjain has also been created about 2050 years ago.

And when the imaginary line on Earth Imaginary was created by the British scientist about 100 years ago, the central part of it was Ujjain. Even today, scientists come to Ujjain to know about the sun and space.

Happy Birthday Dada , Autograph Dio...

The year was 1996....
The month was June.

A Bengali boy from Behala , Kolkata around 24 years old was struggling to make a place in Indian team & a mark in the history of cricket.

Another Bengali boy, also a south paw,  from a small town with ancestrial roots in Behala was struggling for his upcoming ICSE exam the very next year and with his shyness.

The day was 22nd.

History was created at Lords, the home of Cricket when the 24 year old scored a magical 131 runs with the help of 20 boundaries that made batting look as smooth and easy as ever. His knock helped India score 429 runs and take a first innings lead. That was the beginning of a bright chapter in the history of Indian cricket as Saurav Ganguly went from strength to strength as a batsman.

Few days passed and then the trouble started happening for the shy teenager in his small town school .Out of nowhere girls  noticed a striking resemblance with the newfound cricketing legend.
And as a bolt from blue a girl proposed . An extremely embarassing moment for a shy middle class teen who had trouble concentrating between books & football.
That was the time when he felt he could go invisible .
Commentators were in awe of Ganguly's magical batting. Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott gave him the title of 'Prince of Calcutta' .
But all was not well for the small town boy .More people from his neighbourhood has started noticing the resemblance and as the Prince of Calcutta became more famous more girls started noticing.
It was quite a tough time for the teen going to school and trying to be unnoticable .
Remember it was the 90's when Kumar Shanu had created a permanent dent in our hearts of heart by melodeous songs like  ' Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai ' from Saajan ,
'Mera Chand Mujhe Aaya Hai Nazar ' from Mr.Aashiq and many more.
As Ganguly went on to create history and becoming the most enigmatic captain India has ever seen , this teenager completed his board exams with lot of distraction and teenage adrenaline rush .
Even after soo many years when I look back I can only find Dada taking up the largest space in our heart.Yes there is Sachin and will always be , but Dada is someone who mixes with your emotions , your fight to come out against odd and to stand up against downfalls.
And even after soo many years as I look back I can only smile and laugh heartily to those  embarassing yet so innocent and  joyfull moments of my life.
Happy Birthday Dada , which you mesmerise us another hundred years and even more by your charisma.

Refugee of the world...

Refugee
-------------------------------------------
The pigeons nested below our window ,
My son named them June and July..
The months bringing him rain,
what he loved most.

The pigeons somehow knew their names,
When the little boy called them from the glass window.
Then the thunders came , and along came the storm...
The nest was gone.

June and July never came back .
' papa' he asked , ' where are they? 'A tinge of tear painted those little eyes.
That's how refugees are made , I thought...
' they have gone for a new home' the father in me replied, with a choked throat.

That's how refugees are made , I thought.

Gumnami Netaji ?

Any artist in any sphere of art should have artistic freedom , and India being a Democratic country had always been quite open on it except few cases.

A lot imaginative had been written on Tagore in Bengal , fictitous romantic escapades and others.Whether the books sold or not that's a different criteria but I haven't seen much protest which is good.

Lately I see such Fictitous tales has began to spun on Netaji , and we all know that anything on Netaji sells widely.
One of the present day Director has also planned to make a movie on it.
So far , so good.
Yet the problematic point arises when the fictitous hypothesis is tried to be proved as truth.
There has been numerous stories on Netaji's life which is natural taking into account He had been the Greatest Warrior and Freedom figher of our Nation. Also coupled with the fact that He never returned and there is considerable amount of doubt what happened to him.
Gumnami Baba is just one such leaf of his mysterious book, and no one can give a 100%surety that Gumnami was Netaji.

While we all love to read Conspiracy theories and generally such books have a higher sales , engaging media through connections ( which is a very common fact , I being an Author can vouch on that , many a book reviews do come out in NewsPapers due to connections ) to establish a fictitous hypothesis to be true is wrong.
This is a strategy to influence people to get curious and buy the book and also to come and watch the movie.

While there is no harm in marketing and perhaps all does it in one form or other , writing off a sadistic conclusion to the Greatest Hero India ever had is really unwanted and pitiful.

At the stroke of the morning hour when the world sleeps

Tonight as the vigilent moon in it's waning Gibbous phase looms over us , its shadows the promise of both light and darkness along with it.
While some looking at it might feel the promise of round bread and abundant food for family in the near future , some might be bit shaken what the dark spots behold.
Whichever Party wins tomorrow and forms the Government , it's an uphill task for them.
Providing steady employment to an ever increasing population will be one of the biggest challenges.
What a Common Man needs ? The age old Question...
      Roti , Kapra aur Makaan...
The 1974 bollywood drama had the Legend Amitabh Bhacchan in it.
Roti, Kapra aur Makaan...
Ironically Roti for farmers who doesn't have to commit suicide again.
Food for the poorest of poor.
And clothes and shelter.
And that can only be possible by generating more and more employment.
Employment can iradicate lot of ills of our society , as an empty stomach leads to a fractured mind.
The next 5 years will be quite tough for India as well as the new government .
How can we help , the more priviledged ones ?
Apart from paying taxes , I feel one of the greatest contribution can be by generating employment.
Even if a new initiative provides job to just 4-5 people , don't think its only those 4 or 5 persons , but actually its 4 or 5 families ...
No initiative or startup is big or small...all are equally important as all contributes to the development of India.

Let's make India Great...

Who will talk the final talk

Who will talk the final talk -

Indian Election 2019 Scenario :

I always feel the greatest power of democracy is in the Mango People , Aam Admi , the common Man like us.
Whatever happens we have to take into account that it's that Aam Admi's verdict.
The Intellectuals can keep on howling , but somewhere they need to accept the Verdict.
Same happened in US.
When Trump got elected there was so much hue and cry among Intellectuals.
Same happened in 2014 when Modi got elected.
I feel it's psychologically demeaning for them to think that how come a person without a Havard or minimum JNU education can be a PM.
It's somewhat understandable.
Think that the Doodhwala's son who visited your home in soiled clothes with his poor old father is now your boss...Think !
But then we shouldn't forget that He was the Chosen one...
I feel if Modi was from Havard , LSE or some renowned school or college the debate would have subsided.

But unfortunately or fortunately In Democracy the final word is spoken by the Aam Admi.
They can make you an internet sensation ( Angel Priya or who that girl was ) in a day , or can throw you away .
It doesn't matter you belong to a dynasty .
Remember Bahadur Shah Zafar , the last emperor of Mughals ?
In Democracy Dynasty politics doesn't hold neither the wishful thinking of Intellectuals...
The Final talk will be the talk of Aam Admi.

Mother's Day

Ode to Mother's day - From a pathetic son

Few more hours and Mother's Day will come to an end.
Of all the arguements from critics that 365 days a year is Mother's Day which I do acknowledge ( caz we make her work for us everyday ) , still I feel having a well marked date on the Calender is important.
Specially for those unlucky souls like me who doesn't have the opportunity to be with her everyday ( though my parents visit me often ) coupled with our busy life.
Atleast you can set reminder on your mobile and call her to wish Happy Mother's Day.
     Reading Tagore's poem
    '

As I look back into my  childhood , I see how vast a space she occupies and how much I learnt from her.
Of all the sweetest memories I had of her and my childhood clasped together  , I do remember summer afternoons when she read stories to my sister and me.Her tired voice having a tinge of sleepiness , long pauses between paragraphs with her eyes closed , and then again going back to read the story to us.
Imagine a mother who had been like Dasabhuja ( Maa Durga with her ten hands ) from the dawn , completing all household chores and then during her little afternoon nap she read us stories.
Perhaps it was only due to her that I was attracted to books from such an early age.
I still remember our home in a small town where my father was posted was kind of a mini-library.
By class 5 ,I had started reading Tagore , Maxim Gorky , O Henry , Naipaul , Dickens , HG Wells and many others.
It was such a wonderful world !
Of all the ocean of things which I learnt from from her , below few were vital :

1) Help others no matter who he or she is .
2) All jobs have equal importance in its own glory , from a cobbler to an officer.
3) Read books as much as you can , all kind , fiction, non-fiction , autobiographies .
4) It's ok to fail in life . Life doesn't stop with a failure.
5) Be happy with whatever you have. You are lucky than many others.
6) Love God for all that you got in life.

I think of whatever I could make of myself till date , it's 99% her teachings and prayers coupled with God's blessings , and 1% I do keep for mine effort.
As I go back to my childhood I felt of all the friends I had , books had been my best friend.Tagore was an Ocean , His poems transforming your mundane life. It was interesting to know that Nobel prize winning writer VS Naipaul doubled her wife as his secretary in disguise. And of so many amazing things.
I can keep on writing as words flows in , but somewhere I have to draw a line.
I can only pray that God give her strenth to fight all illness and she stays as beautiful as she had always been for the next 100 years and more.
And that she does forgive her pathetic son for all his weakness.

Happy Mother's Day , Maa .

Kishore Kumar- Those were the days

Kisore Kumar -

When I look back into the reminiscences of my youthful past on such a lazy tiring saturday evening like today, this heartfelt song brings back a smile to me.
My smile is like the half crescent moon hovering above me as clouds glides by , the  darkened eaten-up side resembling those bygone days.
The city , as I look by , is a swarm of moving golden bees , while at some corner the enigmatic voice of this great man slowly wafts into the air.
My city has the smell of music even in its polluted air.
All thanks to this legend who will always be  in our hearts of heart.
At the junction of a curved roadway playing hide and seek with darkness and shadow, I can see few young hearts having an adda.
In our times of sans facebook, whatsapp and twitter days , evenings were beautiful adda with Kisore Da's songs.
Life was simpler then , probably.
Love was silent too, unlike so loud now-a-days.
And lost love or secret untold crushes were Kisore Da's melancholic melodies.
I remember we had a prized possesion at our home , a Gramaphone which my parents got as a wedding gift.
And some beautiful records , those circular large disks wirh hole at its centre .
You have to put in the record on the gramaphone and put the diamond tipped pin at the first curve to start the song.
And of went that everlasting profound voice !
We had the record of Mili's  ( the movie ) song.
Somehow of all those great songs it had , Badi Sooni Sooni Hai struck a chord with the saddened nerves of my heart.
By then I had seen the movie quite few times , and this song and that angry young man in the movie has created a hole in my heart.
I am not sure which was greater , the euphoria or my pain , but the potrayal of a pained angry youth with that glass in his hand made me felt like enacting it.
Like you want to create the perfect moment of joy in your life to silently enjoy your untold feelings.
I still remember on days when my parent had a party or was outside , I would first close all the doors and windows and put Mili's record to play.
Only this song in infinity loop.
Most importantly , I would wear the attire which the angry young man had , a white kurta and pyjama .
It gave you that perfect curated feelings !
And switching off the lights , of went the song , Badi Sooni Sooni hai , the glass in my hand with the dreadful liquid in it.
It was dark outside , the curved roads playing hide and seek with light and shadow.
And as Kisore Da sang , my pain melted in that glass .

May the great soul be ever alive in our hearts of heart with his everlasting melodies.

Board results are OUT !

Board results are out.

While it's really heartening and blissfully sweet to see parents rejoicing their child's success , a dark cloud of despair swarmps over those who were not so lucky.
And with social connects entwining our lives , its far more difficult.

Back in our times it was not so broadcasting types , while now if an unfortunate soul have failed or done badly it would do quite few rounds across the nation.
This is exactly the time when parents need to show their love.

Dont ostracize , that probably what others are doing with your kid, his or her  friends, teachers , colony's aunty and uncles.
Tell him that its ok to fail , life doesn't stop there, just a board exam can't decide the fate of someone.
Anyone to say.

The are quite many examples of people who didn't fare well in education leave apart board exams and are just doing Great.
Trust me.
The guy with a company now valuated at $ 4 Billion didn't even care to complete his education.
There are many such examples.
Just say with a smile to your kid that it's ok to fail, we all do in some form or other...and say that it doesn't reduces an aota of your love.
There are far bigger fights to be own , and he or she needs a strong confidence and not a broken heart.

- To all those parents whose kid still believes in their hearts of heart that their father is Ironman and will protect him from all Thanos in the world .

Magic of a New Year

The magic of a New Year -

Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts.
The first part is called The Pledge.
The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object.

The second act is called The Turn.
The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary.
But making something disappear isn’t enough; you have to bring it back.

That’s why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call “The Prestige” .

Every new fresh year spins a similiarity to above. We start the year with something ordinary albeit afresh dreams and aspirations.
It's that part throughout the year wherein we try our best to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.
And it doesn't always have to be cash , kind  do take a major role.
Extraordinary is that when you have walked the extra mile to add value to other people lives.
The third act is to then make extraordinary a repetative process to make it look ordinary or normal so as to say.

That's how you earn Prestige .
