The Nurse

- Saptarshi Basu

A raindrop falls, hits the ground, disintegrates and is no more.
The last light of sunlight leaves with a disappointing face.

Imagine a home in the country
Imagine a garden, rose beds
Think of the sun in the flowers,
Imagine your children playing,
As you watch the monument from a long , long distance
Isn't the air soo free of pollution ?

Schools aren’t about learning now.
Offices aren’t about working anymore.
Churches aren’t about praying now.
Restaurants aren’t about eating anymore.
Yet Gods now resides in hospitals
 fighting for our lives.

Imagine a girl who wanted to live...
Just like you and me .
Imagine a girl who wanted to be
Perhaps, just like you and me
And, as you sit now in you chair and read the morning paper ,
She is no more.

I have heard of soldiers
dying in the battlefield
I have seen the deadly smoke of world war II
this is a new war with an invisible enemy
And she fought for all of us.

And then when the war is over
And then when the invisible enemy is defeated
we all will be back to our normal chores
But She is no more .

No medals around her battered face
No gaurd of honour one last time
but time will remember her
for saving soo many lives.

KIND NOTE :

These are very tough times.

The COVID19 Pandemic has created lot of economical hazards all over the world.
