#Hashtags, #Hashtags everywhere!

The world went berserk since Twitter’s Hashtags were introduced back in 2009. The world was so serious about it to the extent that Hashtag was the‘Word of the year‘, even Facebook announced Hashtags recently in June 2013 and also there was a baby named ‘Hashtag’!

You can go on and say a lot against Hashtags and their importance, but their value is unquestionable in this world that is insanely connected. The internet is made up of long and short messages delivered online and Hashtags provide with a way of grouping such messages, where one can search for a hashtag and get the set of messages that contain in it.

Quoting Wikipedia:
The first use of the term “hash tag” was in a blog post by Stowe Boyd, “Hash Tags = Twitter Groupings,” on 26 August 2007, according to lexicographer Ben Zimmer, chair of the American Dialect Society’s New Words Committee.

Hashtags are not much different to the ‘keywords for finding information’. The way that hashtags makes communications filterable and organized could be put to great use for getting feedback and suggestions. All that can be said is that hashtags are way beyond powerful
Hashtags continue to have benefits for use in social media – especially as their use has expanded from Twitter, Google+ and now Facebook.
