HONOUR KILLS

HONOUR KILLS
-         Saptarshi Basu

They are dead now,
Nothing much to talk about them…
Even if the dust of protest soars high
They are not coming back.

The fault was not theirs, they say
It was in their stars…
On moonless nights, their loved ones
Still searches them in the sky.

The fault was not theirs, they say
The fault was in their caste
And the criminal love repeats the history,
Of everything and nothingness.

No wind, no waving motion
Just the white hot-rays of moist sunlight,
Crisscrossing their homes
A light mist rose from the tip of sunflower field.

Just then all remember,
Two unbridled souls,
Refusing to knuckle under worldly conventions,
They ploughed the clouds and scattered rains of love in the field.

Ode to a Foolish Old Man

Ode to a Foolish Old Man

-         Saptarshi Basu

Tonight, as someone walks through the Gehlour hills...
Someone is watching...
Someone somewhere in the sky...
Smiling...
A foolish old man...

Not much was heard of him,
Some said he was mad...
Lost love had crippled his mind, they said
But he kept on smiling

A chisel shines in his hand,
Relentlessly hitting the mountain...
Till it had succumbed to his last promise,
A promise made to his dying wife

Darkness was his best friend,
As he worked all day and night
Birds sang to him of a new world...
Where there will be light

Tonight, as someone walks through the Gehlour hills...
The foolish old man is no more...
He had taken away the darkness along with him...
For now the hills leads to light...

-         In memory of the Great Dashrath Manjhi, the Man who moved the Mountain...

TO SAY OR NOT TO SAY- QUOTATIONS BY SAPTARSHI BASU

To Say or Not To Say-

QUOTATIONS BY SAPTARSHI BASU

In path of life you move on,
But those words stay back with you,
Words... spoken, unspoken and silent.

-        S.B.

And after all these years when we met,
 The storm has faded away,
yet leaving behind dust of sadness,
And a rainbow of emotions

-        S.B.

Must we not dream our dreams...
and ask Darkness to take our hand and bring us to Light

- S.B.

When relation gets sour, it’s better to part with an ellipsis [ … ] ,
Someday, somewhere you might come back to start off from where you left it incomplete

-S.B.

Coming out of a storm makes you a different person but what is lost is lost forever....some residues might remain in your heart
